Was going to update my post after having had a closer look at the site (should have read the FAQ's oops !) It is indeed a real PRS site.
I might have got a bit confused between American and UK law regarding making backups - it all depends on the licence agreement that comes with the media. Some allow you to download music and then copy to a CD for listening on another device, others to only download and listen on a digital device such as a PC or iPod and not transfer to CD. But in general you're allowed to make a backup of media you've purchased for personal use only, how that affects performers using the backup for public performance is a bit of a grey area.
However the website only refers to the use of backups, not the original media. So if you go to HMV and buy a CD, take it home and copy it, you can use the original in a club without the ProDub licence but not the backup.
Problem is downloadable media that obviously does'nt come on CD. Again this depends on the licence agreement. I would say that if the licence allows you to copy to CD then you don't need a ProDub, if it doesn't then could you still play the track off a laptop or iPod (as per the licence agreement) without a ProDub as it's not a backup or copy ?
